An Excess of Excess?
The day after Gay Bum’s first gig after 2 years was as painful as expected. In part, this is because Phill decided he needed to fight me until the wee hours of Saturday morning… Otherwise, it was the massive excess of drinking that destroyed me. Oh and the gig itself.
I had honestly and embarrassingly forgotten what it is like to front my own band. It it like being hit by a lorry full of beer and washing machines, all mysteriously stuck on spin cycle.
After Pumo and Kate left my house, there was only me, Will and Simon left. So we did what any respectable Guildsmen do when they find themselves as a loss for adventure, after a night of terrible excess…
We donned linen shirts, broke out the absinthe and had a bohemian feast.
I believe we also watched a movie…but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was. I know we looked for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and A Clockwork Orange, but could locate neither.
Either way, today has raised a concern; we drink too much. Much too much. Intoxicated has become our default state of mind – it no longer even supplements our situation. It is the norm.
This is not good.
This week, we shall not drink.
Until the weekend, of course.
