What I've Been Up To

One Week In…

http://youtu.be/6p6APl1Z1aI

I have now been training for the Gold Challenge for a whole week.  I have done 8 hours of training, across 5 training sessions. I was, however, late to my training this morning, because Ajax came galloping into my bedroom this morning and demanded attention for a considerable length of time.  Much stroking occurred, accompanied by much purring.  Ajax is a kitten, for those who are rather confused at this moment in time…

When I finally arrived at the gym, I had about an hour to fill and chose to do the following:

  • Squats at 60, 80, 100, 120 and 130kg.
  • “Clean and jerks” at 60, 70 and 80kg (More of a deadlift to shoulder-press combination really.)
  • Cable Hamstring curls at around 27.5kg.
  • Barbell curls at 27 and 32kg.
  • Preacher curls at around 25 and 35kg.
  • Dumbbell curls at: 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 22kg (and 0.5kg…for I enjoy being silly).

Although gym training is going fairly well, I need to pick up some pace with the sports themselves. I may have started boxing training, that won’t be complete until I’ve had my fight – whenever that might be. I’ve signed up for the half marathon and am intending to do my own endurance cycle ride. I’ve had an offer from Longridge Outdoor Activity Centre, who have kindly said they’ll help out with Kayaking and Rowing. Even when all that is complete, however, I’ll still have to find, arrange, train and complete in 25 more sports!

Although I have Slough Olympic Wrestling Club in my sights, I’m struggling to find enough clubs for all the sports… I can’t stop now though, so hopefully the weekend will yield some more results!
