Running Smoothly…Or Not…
On Monday, I fully intended to go for my next run.
Unfortunately, I found an interesting 1979 Datsun 260z in my home town. Naturally, I had to go and test drive it. Sadly, it left no room for running… It did, however, set a trend for the next few days…
On Tuesday, I also intended to do my run. Work, however, took me to Weston-Super-Mare, to write a story about an Olympic Trampolinist.
As it happened – would you believe – I had spotted another Datsun (a 1977 260z 2+2) based in Gloucester. On my way home, therefore, it was no trouble to stop in a see it… Again, I didn’t get home in time to run…
Today, I fully intended to go for a run. Once again, however, I spotted a lovely car – this time a red 1978 MG BGT – a few miles out of town…so I went and drove that instead…
Tomorrow I will do my run! I will! I promise!
The bottom line is that I don’t have a choice. The Wycombe Half Marathon is on the 17th of July…24 days from now. Given that I will rest and carb-load for around 5 days, that only gives me 19 days to go from struggling to complete 10km to running 21km at a good pace.
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Can it be done? Of course it can. The ‘sport’ thing is totally overrated…
It will either to 10km or 15km, depending on how brave I feel.
