A Remarkable Place…
Today I visited Longridge Outdoor Activity Centre in Marlow, who have very kindly agreed to sponsor both my kayaking and rowing challenges! This is well beyond my wildest expectations and I am incredibly grateful to everybody who has volunteered their help!
Longridge is an activity centre, designed to promote the development of young people and help them achieve their full physical, intellectual and social potential. Run by wonderful people and generous volunteers, this is a truly remarkable place with which I am genuinely proud to be affiliated.
In return for their help, I will be volunteering at the centre once I have some free time again, as well as requesting that the money I raise for Action for Children be donated to helping the kids get out and about, to do sports and activities they’d never otherwise get a chance to try. Sport was always an important part of my childhood and something that gave me direction, confidence and self-motivation. To this extent, I’m more than happy to help support the provision of sports for children and am incredibly excited to get started!
After work, I headed to gym to do a 6km run – 1km farther than I ran on Tuesday. It nearly killed me… To be fair, I have been battling a cough and minor lung infection that makes it hard to breathe most the time but, even so, I’m starting to wonder whether I’ll ever manage to run the full 20km! Granted, I could just jog along and do it if 4 hours, but that would defeat the point really…wouldn’t it? …
