First Gym Session of 2013: My Heaviest Ever Squat
What better way to start a new year than with a personal best in the gym? How about THREE PERSONAL BESTS IN A ROW? That do anything for ya? That’s levitation, Holmes.
Nah, only kidding. I didn’t fly. What I did, however, was perform my three best sets of squats ever, one after the other.
Before today, I had performed a single squat of 140kg on two occasions, and two reps at 140kg once. Today, after seven sets of squats – each heavier than the last – I performed five reps of 140kg. That was my best ever performance at this, technically my weakest power lift.
Fuelled by success (and a body full of Xmas food and New Year booze), I racked up 150kg (twice my body weight) and decided to try to lift it just once. To my disbelief, the first lift flew up – so I did two more! A second personal best:

I decided to film it again anyway, on the off-chance I managed to squat 2.13x my body weight on my tenth set of the day…
Somehow, the Gods themselves only know how…I lifted it. It wasn’t a terrible lift either, all things considered! It was, however, my third personal best in a row and something I never really thought I’d achieve:

So, 2013…let’s see what else we can muster!
